MGM Grand Opens The First ULTRA POOL - Wet Republic
MGM Grand unveiled Wet Republic on April 10th. It's a
53,000-square-foot ULTRA POOL combining a nightlife vibe with poolside
pampering and relaxation. The Grand Opening is set for April 25th.
An adults-only mecca, Wet Republic features two saltwater pools. They are the only ones on the Las Vegas Strip. These spectacular pools measure 2,500 and 3,500 square feet. There are a total of eight separate pools and spas. Six cascading waterfalls accent the vast poolscape and create the illusion of a never-ending flow of water.
Adjacent to the main pool area, WET REPUBLIC features a sultry 2,500-square-foot open-air ultra lounge delivering a matchless daylife party. The covered pool lounge is a place to mix, mingle, dance and dine while drinking in the pool’s delicious atmosphere. At its focal point is an eye-catching 60-foot verde marble-topped bar with a custom glass base inset with chartreuse silk and bamboo. Dark wood floors juxtaposed against swanky cream-colored couches, lounge chairs and ottomans create a seductively modern vibe. White onyx tables throughout the venue serve double duty as dance platforms for guests to showcase their sexy moves to the beats of renowned DJs.

In addition to the six VIP bungalows and ten party cabanas, guests may reserve one of the 18 spacious day beds or more than 80 over-sized deluxe chaise lounges placed throughout the poolscape. The innovative lounges are adjustable on both ends, allowing guests to soak up the best rays throughout the day without having to physically swivel their chair.
Combining the best of both worlds, 18 water lounges are located within the pool’s six-inch-deep wet deck. All guests can swim and sun in WET REPUBLIC’s two main pools or opt for a more intimate dip in one of three cozy spas located on the far side of the pool area near the main entrance. Bellagio Sets World Record as the First to Have Four Master Sommeliers at One Property
Master Sommelier Joseph Phillips
Bellagio recently announced the induction of Joseph Phillips of Sensi into the Court of Master Sommeliers. Phillips becomes the fourth member of Bellagio’s already impressive team of Master Sommeliers. He joins Robert Smith of Picasso, Jason Smith of MICHAEL MINA Bellagio, and Bellagio's Director of Wine Robert Bigelow.

This honor establishes the record for the most Master Sommeliers at a single property anywhere in the world. Home to a record 18 sommeliers, four of whom are female, Bellagio has become a place where aspiring sommeliers become masters. There are 1,600 bottles on Bellagio’s master wine list and 5,250 bottles property-wide. There are 250 wines offered by the glass at Bellagio, with an average of 20 wines by the glass offered in each fine dining room.

Considered the highest honor among wine professionals, the title of Master Sommelier recognizes the utmost level of wine and spirits knowledge. Three levels of training must be completed before pursuing the Master Sommelier diploma: Introductory Sommelier, Certified Sommelier and Advanced Sommelier. Upon completion of these courses, candidates are required to pass a rigorous 3-part exam, testing the extent of their knowledge. The test consists of written exams, service exams as well as blind tastings.

The performance agreement, which is in partnership with AEG Live, includes approximately 200 shows over a span of three years.

Roseanne is performing in the Sahara’s legendary Congo Room, a 520-capacity entertainment venue. Following a move to Los Angeles in 1983 to pursue stand-up comedy, Barr was extremely successful, landing her first television appearance on the Johnny Carson Show in 1985. Little did she know that more than 20 years later fate would bring her to the Sahara’s Congo Room, where Carson himself once performed.
Barr’s namesake television show ran for nine seasons. She picked up four Emmys, two Golden Globes, six People’s Choice Awards, and many other accolades.

Binion’s Gambling Hall and Hotel Aquired by TLC Casino Enterprises
TLC Casino Enterprises has expanded its operations by assuming ownership of one of the most storied Las Vegas casinos, Binion’s Gambling Hall & Hotel.
The purchase of Binion’s marks the second time in five years that TLC Casino Enterprises has bought a Las Vegas casino. The company purchased The Four Queens Hotel & Casino in 2003. Within the property itself, TLC Casino Enterprises will enact several initiatives immediately.
All remaining coin-operated slot and video poker machines will be converted to ticket-in,-ticket-out technology and the casino floor will be reconfigured to improve customer flow throughout the property. In addition, the hotel rooms and several public areas will be remodeled.

McCarran Airport Sets Record of 47.7 Million Travelers
McCarran Airport hosted a record 47.7 million travelers in 2007. That was a 3.1 percent increase from 2006. The arrivals and departures from McCarran Airport increased from the previous annual traffic record of 46.2 million in 2006.
Lake Las Vegas Ownership Shifts to the Atalon Group
The Atalon Group, through a subsidiary, has acquired 100 percent of the ownership interests in Lake Las Vegas, the 3,592-acre destination resort community 17 miles from the Las Vegas strip. Atalon assumed ownership effective January 2, 2008.
The acquired assets include three existing golf courses, an interest in the Ritz-Carlton Hotel, about 400 acres of undeveloped lands in Phase III, a proposed golf course and several operating businesses such as Como's Restaurant.
Founded two decades ago, Lake Las Vegas is nationally known as a destination resort with four luxury hotels, three championship golf courses, a shopping village, casino, marina and 1,500 homes. A 320-acre man made lake is the centerpiece of the community that is surrounded by thousands of acres of public lands.
